An intensive training program is offered for Helpline volunteers. Volunteers are trained in active/empathetic listening, caring confrontation and other communication skills. The training program prepares volunteers to respond to callers facing all kinds of crises and to provide information and referrals when necessary and helpful. Classroom training is followed by apprenticeships with experienced volunteers. Day and evening training programs are offered throughout the year. FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE CALL: 856-795-5073.

Reassurance volunteers commit to making a daily phone call at the same time each day to a designated senior citizen. Training, conducted in the comfort of the volunteer's home, includes listening skills, information about the aging process, loneliness, grief and loss and procedures for handling daily calls and emergency situations. 24-hour back up is available in emergencies and substitutes are provided during vacations and other absences.
