Mission

CONTACT Community Helplines assists people in crisis or need by providing empathetic listening, information and referrals in a confidential, non-judgmental manner. CONTACT provides this service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, primarily through the services of trained and dedicated volunteers.

History

CONTACT is an affiliation of Lifeline, International which originated in Australian in 1963. The network on 24 hour crisis helplines has spread throughout the world and is now active in 15 countries on four continents. CONTACT Community Helplines, accredited by CONTACT USA, provide 24 hour service to callers in southern New Jersey.

CONTACT Community Helplines was formed by the union of CONTACT centers that have provided crisis helpline service to Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties since 1971. CONTACT Community Helplines is a member of the United Way of Camden County and the United Way of Gloucester County.
